James Robertson, a partner at Carmody Torrance Sandak & Hennessey LLP, has been named Chair of Hartford Seminary’s Presidential Search Committee. The Seminary’s current President, Dr. Heidi Hadsell, is retiring after 17 years of service.

The Search Committee is comprised of distinguished Trustees and Faculty and expects to recommend a new president by next Spring.

Founded in 1833, Hartford Seminary offers certificate, graduate and doctoral degrees attracting students from throughout the world. It is an international leader in interfaith dialogue and understanding, with a focus on “peace-making” and deepening one’s own faith while exploring the faiths of others, particularly the “Abrahamic religions” of Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Robertson is a senior member of the CTSH’s trial department. He graduated from Hartford Seminary and has served for many years as a Trustee, Officer and adjunct member of the faculty. He is an ordained Congregational minister (UCC) and serves as Associate Minister of the First Congregational Church of Watertown.
