The 2018 Connecticut General Legislative Session officially adjourned yesterday. Noteworthy to schools is that HB5170 regarding the search and seizure of any student’s electronic device in a public or private school did not pass in the Connecticut General Assembly.

An amendment to establish a working group to study issues relating to the search and seizure of students’ electronic devices did pass.  Assuming the Governor signs the bill, the working group will report its findings by January 1, 2019, when it is likely the bill will be revisited.
