Information Technologist (non-remote)
Carmody is seeking an Information Technologist to join the firm, based in either the New Haven, Stamford, Guilford or Waterbury office. The Information Technologist provides support for a variety of desktop computers, laptop computers and networking hardware, including maintenance, software installation, and workstation and network support to ensure computer equipment meets firm and end user requirements. They will troubleshoot computer problems, determine the source and advise on appropriate action, complete application project-based work, and assist with data collection, analysis and maintaining the related software and hardware for the firm’s eDiscovery team.
Skill Requirements:
- Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, Windows networks, workstations, file servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices and systems; adds or upgrades and configures drives, printers and related equipment
- Investigate user problems and identifies their source; determine possible solutions; test and implement solutions
- Perform and/or oversee software and application installation and upgrades
- Implement network security, including maintaining firewalls, configuring VPN, managing host security, file permissions, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users
- Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
- Configure and troubleshoot mobile device
- Setup and troubleshoot video conferencing
- Assist lawyers and support staff as a technical resource
- Develop and present technical training curriculum
- Train employees
- Create technical documentation for employees
- Implement and teach employees how to use new software
- eDiscovery data collection and administration
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in computer-related field or equivalent applicable work experience
- 3 years help desk experience
- Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical end users
- Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks and related hardware and software
- Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operations problems
- Ability to learn and support new systems and applications
- Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- eDiscovery data collection and preservation experience
- Experience working at a law firm or in the professional service industry
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, bend and reach
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Position requires travel as required among the firm’s office locations
- Regular work schedule 40 Hours (Monday-Friday). Availability required for occasional evening and weekend hours for on call IT coverage for technical issues and software/hardware installations outside of regular business hours
