Jeffrey Shields has been an association leader on behalf of business officers of educational institutions for over 15 years. Since March 2010, he has served as President and CEO of the National Business Officers Association. Prior to this role, Jeff was employed by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) for ten years. At the time of his departure, he served as the organization’s Senior Vice President and Chief Planning Officer. He began his career in association management as the Assistant Director for Leadership Training at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).

Jeff, an active member of the American Society of Association Executives, is a member of the 2008 Class of ASAE Fellows (FASAE) and earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation in 2002. He has also been recognized by the Greater Washington Society of Association Executives (GWSAE) with the “Super Star” award as their active member of the year.

He currently serves as a trustee for One SchoolHouse a virtual school that expands learning opportunities for students and professionals within the independent school community. He also serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Georgetown Day School in Washington, DC, where his daughter, Samantha, attends.

Giovanna Weller will also be presenting at the conference. Giovanna is co-chair of the Labor and Employment Subgroup and leads the firm’s employment litigation practice. She is a trial lawyer and has over 20 years of experience in counseling CEO’s senior management, and boards of directors of public and private businesses of all sizes. Described in Chambers USA as a “great trial attorney – tenacious and confidence inspiring,” and “highly recommended for her trial work on employment matters,” Giovanna has successfully defended many significant employment. Her clients include large and small employers, manufacturers, schools, utilities, and insurers. Giovanna regularly trains management personnel on a wide variety of employment related topics.
