Overview
Maggie advises individual clients with regard to estate planning matters, including the creation of wills and trusts, the probate process, and gift and estate taxes. Maggie also advises clients with respect to their business objectives and assists them with corporate filings. She also has experience setting up non-profit organizations and obtaining tax exemption status.
Prior to joining the firm, and during her term at the University of Connecticut School of Law, Maggie served as an intern for the Honorable Evelyn M. Daly at the Farmington Regional Probate Court. While at Court, Maggie wrote legal memoranda on a variety of noteworthy matters, including charitable trusts, the Cy Pres doctrine, the probate implications of post-mortem reproduction and the disposition of genetic material, and the legal authority to quarantine and isolate in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Maggie was also a part of the University of Connecticut School of Law Tax Clinic where she advised a number of low-income clients as to the benefits of certain tax elections that were available to them, as well as the implications of failing to cooperate with the Internal Revenue Service.
Maggie also served as a mentor to incoming law students as a part of the Women Law Students’ Association mentorship program.
