Overview
Ann Rubin is a trial lawyer who represents clients in a wide variety of business, commercial, and professional disputes, in state and federal court and in arbitration. Ann has represented international chemical and watch companies, the region’s major electric utility, national insurance agents and brokers, national and regional financial institutions, major law firms and professional service providers, State agencies, physician groups, partnerships, business owners, franchisors, insurers, and reinsurers. Ann’s clients note her practical and aggressive representation, and her focus on accomplishing their business and legal goals.
Experience
- Obtained emergency ex parte injunctive relief in federal court on behalf of national insurance broker against executive and employee who violated restrictive covenants, resulting in immediate return of stolen clients
- Obtained $3 million judgment in favor of client in action for breach of stock option purchase agreement and fraud
- Enforced non-solicit agreement involving simultaneous proceedings in state and federal courts in Connecticut and California, and FINRA arbitration
- Part of an international team that obtained federal court order for discovery in the United States for use in a foreign proceeding
- Obtained injunction and contempt order against international chemical company and employee for violation of restrictive covenant and theft of trade secrets
- Successful defense of numerous claims against insurance agents and brokers
- Successful defense resulting in favorable settlement of complex vexatious litigation action against major law firm
- Obtained defense verdict in $10 million lender liability and legal malpractice action tried in federal court
- Successful defense of federal and state court class actions, including under the Credit Repair Organizations Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Connecticut Unfair Trade Practices Act
- Litigated and managed multi-million dollar loan workout cases for lenders and FDIC
- Lead and co-counsel in numerous arbitrations (private, AAA, FINRA, ARIAS): insurance, reinsurance, asset purchase agreements, contracts, construction, health care, physician business disputes, real estate, partnership and LLCs, franchise agreements
- Lead counsel for State agencies in federal class action and consent decree, construction disputes and arbitrations
- More than 50 contested evidentiary proceedings, including injunctions and prejudgment remedies
